Legacy Students Visit Health Science Center
In an attempt to broaden the horizons of its students, Legacy Early College High School took a field trip to Temple.
The trip included a visit to the Texas Bioscience Institute, the Simulation Center and a brief tour of the Temple College campus, which included lunch with Temple College President Mark Nigliazzo.
At lunch, the students presented a Legacy ECHS shirt to Nigliazzo and expressed their thanks for Temple College's support of their education.
The students were exposed to many opportunities. The Bioscience Institute incorporates state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories to provide high school and college students a foundation for upper-level studies in the biosciences, medicine, engineering and math fields.
Legacy students also toured the Clinical Simulation Center at Temple College. The center occupies 9,800 square feet on the ground floor of Temple College's Health Sciences Center and includes:
An ambulance bay with room for two ambulances
An emergency receiving area with nurses station
Two emergency department major treatment rooms
Two intensive care unit rooms
An operating room with adjoining scrub room
A simulation control room
A respiratory care classroom/laboratory
A surgical technology demonstration operating room/classroom
An emergency medical services skills laboratory
The center allows students to get realistic clinical experience for a broad range of health care professions.
