TCAT Changes Name to EWCHEC
Dignitaries will officially change the name of Temple College at Taylor to the East Williamson County Higher Education Center at a ceremony Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the center, 516 N. Main St.

Temple College President Glenda Barron, Texas State Technical College President Elton Stuckly Jr. along with other local officials will attend the brief event.

The name change reflects progress in the development of the EWCHEC, in which Temple College is a primary organizer and will remain a flagship.

Though the 60-acre site is still awaiting funding to begin the first phase of the institution, TCAT will continue to serve students involved in the EWCHEC partnership including TC, Legacy Early College High School, Texas State Technical College and Texas Tech, among others.

The TCAT Foundation, which helped sow the seeds for the EWCHEC project, provides the facility for instruction from TC educators but as the EWCHEC program continues to expand, so does the function of classrooms within TCAT.

The TCAT building will house EWCHEC until the facility south of Carlos Parker Boulevard is built, and then will continue to serve as a hub for post-secondary education in the Taylor area.
